What happened to some of the 
Old Pals who served with us?

Fortunately some of those we remember
from 47 Regt. Royal Artillery and the 
REME Workshops, stationed in 
Napier Barracks, Dortmund 
about 1957 - 1966 (or thereabouts) 
have found us, and
their stories are presented here.

Hi John

I now live at Lower Quinton, Nr Stratford on Avon

I was a National Serviceman who joined up with the RAOC Stores Section attached to the REME Workshops in September 1960 and was there untill December 1962, ( being one of the last National Service intake,I was one of the few to do an extra 6 months service.)

Captain Stuart Portman & Captain Michael Dunn. at different times were our O.C.
Staff Sgt. Ernie Harper ( Office ).
Sgt. Billy Bolton ( Stores ).
Cpl's Taffy Jones & Arthur Brown.
L/Cpl's Frank Bock.& Malcolm McCloy.
Pte's. Bert Cole, Paul Connolly, Tony Holt, Allan Lovell, Charlie Crangle, Jim Bannister,Geordie Lonsdale,Tom Hully, Willy Williamson
to name a few that were there over the couple of years Iwas there.

Of the R.E.M.E. names I recall in particular are:-
A.S.M. Norman Moss ( who had theOffice adjoining ours ) a really nice man.
Sgt. Harry Harris ( hello Jim!! ) from Redditch, Worcestershire.
Cfn. Harry Birkenshaw, from Evesham, Worcestershire,
Cfn. John Partridge from Birmingham, and
Staff/Sgt. Wood( Acting Sgt. Major) bark worse than his bite!.

Your "Web-Page" brought back a lot of good memories to me.thank you.
