ECE Mech M & G Platoon REME Workshops |
What happened to some of the Old Pals who served with us? Fortunately some of those who we remember from 47 Regt. Royal Artillery and the REME Workshops, stationed in Napier Barracks, 1957 - 1966 (or thereabouts) have found us, and we present their stories here. |
I am still working and considering retirement soon.
When I came to the US I first worked for Hewlett Packard (Electronic Technician, what else?). Later was with a start up company for almost 21 years that grew from 45 people to over 1200 and then failed. I grew with that Company into various management positions and director and when it failed, at 48 years old, was out on the street. It took 3 months but was lucky to get a wonderful job and have now been with the same organization for almost 17 years. The company is Lockheed Martin and I am with the Commercial Space group making, testing and launching commercial satellites.
I became a college graduate at the age of 52.
Married when 32 years old to a Pennsylvania girl, she died of cancer 10 years ago, no children. I was very lucky to meet another girl (Maria Theresa, she goes by Resa) in Florida where I was living at the time and we have had a wonderful 8 years of marriage, also no children.
What an emotional moment when I found John Walker's web site.
