Hi John, 

I read your delightful piece on the Hebrides. 

I regret now having lost my photo album; I was an avid picture taker. Bit scary 
really, having got into similar scrapes around the same time. 

I can't believe that it was only 9 years of my life. I along with most left the army 
with a 'Thank goodness that's over' attitude, but it is something most do not forget.

I remember things from those times better than from 15 years ago.

The same year we had decided to go for some brown trout. I am not too sure if this 
was allowed or if it was poaching. However one of us was supposed to know the way 
and led us into a bog. I ended up to my waist in mud. Luckily there was a lump of 
rope on the ground and they had to haul me out.

I wonder if my wellies are still there?
