The Romanian spammer is at it again.
Had to remove hundreds of bogus entries to the Guestbook, all with references to non-existent websites selling belt buckles, dog-collars etc.
Have adjusted iptables config in attempt to stop him.

Well, moving the server onto another box didn't go at all as planned, so I'm back to using the old one, at least for now. I've also realized that the whole site has become much too unwieldy, and is in dire need of re-organization.

Our deepest sympathies are extended to Mike and Dot Powell and their family, on the very sad loss of Karen.

Finally found the time to re-organize the various sections of the site into more manageable sections, and got most of the 'Old Soldier Stories' complete. Next project is the 'Where Are They Now?' entries.

Some of you have noticed that the website hasn't always been available recently, and a suggestion was made that reliability could be improved by a communal whip-round and purchase of some new equipment. It's an extremely kind and thoughtful offer, but the old Frankenstein hardware is actually quite reliable; the problems have in fact been caused by very severe weather storms in the last year or so, and they seem to be getting worse (Global Warming?). I'll post some photos of local storm damage soon.
Despite a new HV feed via Mt Peter several years ago, our electricity supply is becoming less reliable with each storm, and whenever the power goes out the website server doesn't crash, it just stops. Usually all that's required is a simple re-boot.
One day, when I'm grown up and very rich, I'll invest in a UPS.

At last ! - After many years of sporadic activity and attention, I finally completed the first iteration of a history of the Corporal missile. Click here and follow the 'Corporal Missile - History' link.

Another storm knocked our power out again, and sure enough the server went down so some of you (two that I know of) couldn't log on for a couple of days. We lost electricity, TV and phone service. After we got power back on, someone dug up the TV/Internet cable at the end of our street.
Got it all restarted today.

Another contact! - Frank Godley, ex-3Bty - added to the 'Where Are They Now?' section. Thanks for contacting us, Frank!

At last I've started to get some of the old photos transferred to the proper page locations. Unfortunately this has to be done between bouts of shovelling snow, to which I refuse to become accustomed. I've also been trying to reconfigure the Webcam on the home page so that it doesn't re-direct you to the server in Holland, but this may result in loss of the streaming video.

Mike Ireson has requested info about another Old Pal. See the Stories section.

After keeping the whole family awake for the weekend with intermittent bouts of panic, our latest grandchild - David John - arrived at 5:00AM this morning. Baby Burkey

This week I've received two totally blank e-mails from a 'Peter Caplin' and he indicates that a third one is stuck in his 'Drafts' folder. Hopefully he'll get his mouse and keyboard under control sometime soon, and we'll get treated to some more 47 RA reminiscences.
Hope to hear from you again soon, Peter.

I finally got round to assembling a few pages containing some photos kindly given to me by Mick Toogood a couple (or is it more?) years ago taken during a nostalgia trip with his son Frank.
On the main REME home page, click on the '47 Regt RA' link and then the 'Recent Photos' link.
