Resting along Seven Lakes Drive in Harriman State Park.
Seven Lakes Drive in Harriman State Park is a beautiful 3rd-gear saunter especially enjoyable on weekdays when there are no tourists. We usually start at the end near Bear Mountain Bridge and wander slowly down to Sloatsburg, turn round and wander slowly back along the same road.
Another favorite short trip was through Warwick and West Milford, around Greenwood Lake, over the mountain to Wanaque reservoir, then back home along the east side of Greenwood Lake and Mount Peter, about 30 miles.
Weekend jaunts took us to Cold Spring, Kingston and Woodstock to the north, and Stroudsburg PA to the south. One of our favorite short day trips took us frequently to Milford, PA where there is a quaint restaurant in an old water mill. The mill is no longer used, of course, but the 20-ton waterwheel still turns.
After rebuilding the bike following the first deer fight, we decided to re-paint it green, and as a friend who owned a car-spraying business had a spare can of Chrysler Metallic Green that's the color we chose.
